THE HIGH COMMISSIONER.
PRESS COMMENTS' ON MR. REEVES' • REAPPOINTMENT. (BT TXLSGnAI'I!.—arECIM. COIWISrONDENT.) - - , Dunedlh, Juno 12. Tho Star' says:—The 'Hon. W. P. Reeves has been reappointed High Commissioner for the Dommtiu for, we understand, a term ef one year. This narrow limitation in point of timo would seem to indicate an intention on the part, of the Government to make a change at ho' distant date. There is reason to believe that such a. determination would not be un\v6lcomo to Reeves himself, who is understood to have other viows of future employment, but, be this as it may, there is likely to be a pretty general opinion that tho tamo for & change has about arrived We haston to add that this feeling implies no sense of dissatisfaction respecting the value— the continued the services of the present High Coniznissioner. For twelve years Mr. Reeves has represented the Dominion in London with excellent efficiency. He has'been more successful than/his'most Admiring friends expected him to be.
