M'Adam, an' elderly man employed as porter at the Riiihv&y Hotel, brolte a bloodvessel yesterday morning, and expired almost immediately. Ho camo from Palmorstori about four months ago, and is belioted to leave a wife and family in Wa--yfirlev; SERIOUS ACCIDENT AT NAPIER. Napier, June 11. Mr. D. Anderson, whose relatives resido at Crawford Terrace, Wellington, fell a distance of 30ft. into the hold of tho steamer Kini lying at the breakwater this morning. Ho was removed to the Hospital, where he was found to bo suffering" from concussion of the brain. His condition is extremely critical. ' ' A- MINER KILLED. Auckland, June 11. Robort Alexander Gmm, a minor, over 70 years of age, was killed in his mine at Tokatoa, near Coromandel, early this morning. Gunu had evidently nut in. a charge of dynamite, which had either exploded when ho was tamping it, or the charge had missed fire, and had gone off when he went to soe . ,tho cause, and killed him. His head was almost blown off. .
i , A GISBORNE MYSTERY. Clsborne, Juno 11. At an inquest concerning the death of Andrew AValwick, engineer of the trawler Endon, whose body was found in tho river, a verdict of found drowned was returned, there being no evidence to show how deceased had .got into tho water. Deceased and tho nrnster of tho, trawler had retired on board tho vessel on Saturday night, and on Sunday tho'master found liis engineer missing. ACCIDENTAL DROWNING. Dargavilla, June 11. Tho body of Hugh Henry Laing, a single man, aged 40, and' a member of the Hobson County Couiicil, who was drowned while rafting in tho Tangowahine Creek oii June 5, was found yesterday, and at an inquest list night a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned. BODY FOUND HANGING. Dunedin, June 11. The body of Thomas Brown, a retired gentleman, aged about 60, was found hanging in tho bush at Caversham. Deceased had been suffering from melancholia, and it is supposed that he committed suicide.
