, . WEDNESDAY ASSOCIATION. . ■ , Tho Wednesday Hockey Association's fixtures were played in beautiful weather. FEDERAL A v. Y.M.C.A. ■vTl'o ■. nititch 'between Federal A • and 1 .IU.U.A. was decided at the Basin Reserve, there being a fair number of spectators' pre'sent-.; Tho former simply outclassed their 1 opponents, and defeated them liy the large •margin of 13 to njl. The winners played with; only eight' men, and the losors had . only seven on. their, sido. .The play was lather poor, and there was no combination worth mentioning on either side. What advantage there v,;as in this respect belonged .to.,tho Federals. The scores were made by Crouch, Hollis, Murray, and Whitehead. At d. ,0-clock .only two players were; ready to proceed, and the; match was not commenced until about . twenty minutes past three : Strong . comment was mado on the non-at-tendanre and late arrival of players, and tho matter will be brought up at the next meeting of the committee. Mr. W. J -Slicd;herd. controlled the game. '. KARORI v. Y.M.C.A. • This game was played on a very .slippery g.'rf assumed the aggressive right from the start,-and-after being repelled !?y a ™ns backs ■ Craig managed to scoro tor I.M.C.A. From the bully Y.MiCiA. again invaded, and stubborn plav ended in Craig again scoring. Up till this 'Karori had not shown out at all, but' Cole now took the ball nicely up the field, and would prob- , .ably have if he had not hit .too nurd, the ball going out. A fast passing rtisli by Y.M.C.A. ended in a corner hit being; given, but Osborne's fine .shot was-dis-allowed owing to the ball not having been • dead" before it was hit. Halftmio sounded .with the score unaltered. " In the second spell, Karori livened up and pressed their opponents hard, forcing them .to hit,for tlio line, where Atkin saved arid centred, Evans scoring a-nice goal. Karori were now playing a good game, and should /have ; scored several times, but their forwards seemed unable to hit hard enough when in the circle. Y.M.C.A. broke away once", or twice, and looked like scoring, but Karori's goal-keeper (Cooper) savod beautifully.' After somo very interesting play, Karori carrjod the ball, into Y.M.C.A. territory, but the ball was, again sent out to the lino', where Atkin saved, and, centring. to Cole, enabled the latter to.score a goal.' THe gamo was drawn, each', sido scoring two' goals. - Mr. ■ Cusaclt ,rofe'reed. ■.
