NORTHLAND CHURCH SOCIAL.

The. annual social of St. Anne's Church Northland, was held last night, when there was .a very good attendance, and an excellent musical programme was given by a glee party from St. Mark's Church. Following this there were, several competitions which caused much amusment, and supper- was provided by the ladies of the church. It was partly a business meeting. The balancesheet was read, showing a decided increase in .the church revenue; and the Rev. T.. G. Kay launched a. 6cbeme for reducing ' the debt on the church,..which was heartily responded to by. his audience,. most of them undertaking forthwith to help him. A gold star, presented- by Mr. Kay to the best girl in the Sunday school, was won by Carrie Warmington and a gold medal for the best choir boy was won by Harry Brown. Prizes were also won by two ■' other scholars, A Campbell and Godfrey Clapcott. In the singing competition for girls, Carrie Warmington was. successful, and Norman Berry won the , boys' whistling competition.
