. _ Dunotlin, June 8. ' Tho interrupted criminal sittings concluded to-day. Bing Sing, charged with assaulting Si On, a compatriot, ■ on' March '8, with intent to do 'grievous, bodily" harm; - pleaded guilty"to common assault. ' Tho/plea was accepted by the Crown, and' prisoner was fined £15. - George' Holmes, alias Albert Patrick Newman,., a youth charged ■ with forging, was ordered to come up for sentence when called on. / , : Palmerston North, June 6. The list-of-Supremo Court cases for tho sossion on Tuesday contains only t-VD criminal cases—one of .alleged perjury and the other assault and causing bodily harm. There are two-'divorce cases, ana fourteen civil actions, including a claim fir £501, preferred by K, Essex, late Mayor of Palmerston, against E. ,D. Hoben, editor of the "Manawatu Daily Times," for alleged libel. Another newspaper proprietor figures on the list, J. Iv. Hornhlow, of tho " Foxton Herald," being the defendant in a claim for £501, also for alleged libel at tho suit of W. Hamer, Foxton. D. Ross, bookmaker, Wellington, proceeds against the Manawatu Racing Club, claiming £1000 damages for alleged injury to'his charactor by tho refusal of a license to bet on the second day of the Manaivatu races in-April.
