MASTERTON RACING CLUB'S MONTHLY - MEETINC. (by telegraph.—-special, correspondent).. Masterton,. June 6. The stewards of the Masterton Racing.Club lipid their n-nnthly meeting : this afternoon, Mr. A. G. Pihner being in the ohair. The Wairarapa Racing Club wrote.. suggesting a conference at iviasterton of .two delegates from each club in the Wellington district to discuss the' question of the . issue, of complimentary tickets. Messrs. Cress and M'Lachlan were, of opinion that each club should use its own discretion in this respect. Mr. ;0. C. Cooper said he thought a conference wouli be productive of some uniformity in the matter, and; eventually a motion favourable to the proposal was carried, Messrs. O. C.. Cooper and D/ M'Lachlan being appointed delegates. Mr. Pownall spoke strongly: on the' question of the issue' of free' luncheon tickets, considering''it time .the club put its foot down and' stopped what he termed/a system of cadging, "as; generally tlioso best able to pay, and least entitled to lunch tickets; demanded them, while eligible persons, were refused. He moved that the delegates be instructed.to support the: total abolition of free luncheon tickets. This was lost, but a motion by Mr". 0. C. Cooper was carried, recommending-that the conference discuss the question of luncheon tickets. Mr. R, H.' Aldworth wrote applying for the position of starter. It was resolved to reply that the club had. already filled the appointment. A ,trainer's .license was issued.: to Thos. A. Dwyer. The resignations of Mr. F. Moore (Wanganui),. andMr, T. Kilminstcr were accepted with regret.' Mr. W. Hall remitted minutes of .the conference of secretaries of racing clubs. . These were read and adopted. A report was received from Mr. A. P. Rawson, surveyor, Who was instructed to advise whether it was practicable to have a new course at Solway.) Mr. Rawson said he found thero was not. sufficient ground now that portions of the estate were sold, but said that a splendid site was available if the club could secure a portion of Judd Bros.'/ property adjoining. It was thought by the meeting .that, the., proposition -to/ have- a' course at Solway was now out of the question, and it was agreed to abandon .the project. '

Prico, will probably visit Australia after the Napier Park winter meeting. ... .... '; The Christchurch trainers, C. Piper and H. Kerr, were among the passengers by tho Ulimaroa, which left' "for Sydney- on Friday. The annual meeting of the Karioi Jockey Club was held at Karioi on May 31. . The report and .balance-sheet submitted showed that a profit of £90 had , resulted over the last meeting, and there was a satisfactory balance at the bank. " For the next meeting, to be held on February 4, 1909, it was' decided to increase the stakes to £160, this being £60 more than the amount- distributed last meeting. The principal event, the Karioi Cup, will now'be worth £40. Mr. G. Pike,, of Raetihi, was elected a life member of the club. On thb recommendation of the out-going, committee, the question of changing the site of the club's courso was fully, discussed, and finally it was decided to make a new course on the Karioi run, near the Waitangi railway station, and remove all buildings on the. present courso to .that site. ■ . Winning jockeys at the ■ Auckland meeting were:—A. Julian and .C. Cress (three each), A. Whittaker (two), Selby, Brown, J. .Twohill, J. O'Connell, F. ; Davis, W. Young, V. Coleman, G. Webster, D. Barron, I'. Brady, and C. Cochrane (one cach). About January last- it was stated that tho hurdler Hautapu could have been purchased for something less than £200. Ho would have been a very cheap purchase, for since then he has won two hurdlo races, and on Saturday he succeeded in the Tamaki Steeplechase at Ellerslie. Last season he did not do too well, for out, of seventeen starts ho was only victorious on ono occasion. Sol's three seconds at tho Ellerslie meet-ing"-make it apparent that lie is racing as .well as ever. It was a great performance to run second in the Great Northern Stcepiochaso after filling a similar position, in the big hurdles, and after running such a great race- with 12st. 91b. on Saturday lie' must be accounted unlucky to bo beaten by a neck by Loch Fyno. 1 In connection with the accident in tho Groat Northern Hurdles a week ago, whereby Aorangi, Omati, Pari tutu, and Dolores came to griof, it appears that Omati was the cause of tho trouble. Aorangi was about a neck in front at the. time,. but lie was clearing, tho hurdlo. comfortably when Omati crashed into it, and bumped Aorangi, and both horses came down. • • •
