SETTLERS' REQUESTS.
THE MINISTER FOR RAILWAYS INTERVIEWED. Tho settlors of Mnngaroa sent a deputation to tho Minister for Railways (the Hon. W. Hall-Jones) on Saturday with tho request that a milk train bo rim on Sundays from to Mungaroa, and thus savo them a ee'ven-miie drive to Wallaeevillo and back. The Minister pointed out that tho • milk train which had been run at tho request cf tho member for' tho district for the convenient of tho Mungaroa settlers had not paid its way; and while the Government were prepared to stand somo small loss for the convcnienco of Bottlers, they wero not agroeablo to oxtonding the servico with tho likelihood of incurring further lo3s.
In regard to other matters, tho 'Minister said ho would givo a reply shortly as to suburban faros, and would state tho intention of tho Government in this respect. As to a late train on Saturday night from tho Lower Ilutt to tho, Upper Jlutt ho thought tho request a fair one. Tho acquisition of the Upper ITutt rocreation ground would Lo before Cabinet shortly, and ho would communicate tho result to Mr. T. Wilford. Ho would also givo an early answer on tho request for an oxtra morning train from Lower Ilutt to Fetono for workors.
