In response to an invitation, tho-'Welling ton Hockey Club is sending a team to Cai terton on Juno 3 to play, the Carterton Clul The Y.M.C.A. senior team lias received pel mission to play a match against Masterto at tire Basin Reserve 011 June 3, til Y.M.C.A. juniors play the Wednesda Y.M.C.A. team, and tho Y.M.C.A. thin class play tho Masterton Y.M.C.A. junioi at Miramar. 1 A challenge was sent a fortnight ago i tho Manawatu Association to, play a junk representative match.. .'No reply has b'ec received, and it has accordingly been di cided to play a match between tho Wedne: day Association and the Saturday junior, On this subject, the following clipping froi an oxchange is of interest:—"At a meetin of tho Manawatii Association, it was r< solved that a team could not bo sent to We lington on June 3, owing to clubs havir arranged other matches." Auckland has replied to tho challenge fo warded by tho Wellington Association, sayir that, in view of tho number of challcngi received, it was not probable that a cha lenge_ match could be arranged. The A sociation, however, would bo pleased to pis a match with Wellington if possible, hi from the Wellington point of view, unless match counted for tho shield contest, it w; not likely 'to bo acceptable. As a cons quenco of tho improbability of a match wil Auckland, the. proposed match against Tar nalci' is riot likely to eventuate. . Canterbury owes Wellington n visit, bi no communication has/yet been received t tho subject. Tho Palmerston Old Boys II have arrangi to play tho High School Club at Wangan 011 Juno 3. The Manawatu match against Aucklar for the shield has been fixed for August at Auckland. ' Tlw Transfer Committee of the Wellingt( Association has approved of tho transfer A.. J. P.-Brittain to the |Y.M.C.A. seni team, and L. England from senior to junic tho-lattor's place being filled by the pr motion of E. Loader from junior to senior. TEAMS.
