Hanson suffered serious injuries, including a fracture of both legs. - FOUND DROWNED. ; . ; ■ 1: .(Invercargill, May. 29. ■ An inquest was held .at the Bluff on-the body of John Cotter, who was found in five feet (of water near Ruapuke Jetty on Thursday. -As (there was no evidence as to how the body came into tho water, tho verdict was " Found drowned,'.' Deceased was, well educated, and is believed to havo been well connected. " A WOMAN COMMITS SUICIDE. Ghrlstohurch, May 29. A married woman named Bessie Blakeway committed suicide at her residence on tho -Ynldhurst Road, Riccarton, about 11 o'clock last night. It appears that she retired to bed - about 9.45 p.m. in her usual state of health, but whon her husband returned home at 11.30 he found the front door open and his wifo missing. He imniediately made a search, and found his wife's hotly in tho orchard, about 50 yards from tho house. Thero was a wound about two inches long' on the throat, and tho windpipe was severed. Thero was a bloodstained table-knife lying on tho right-hand sido of tho body. An inquest was held to-day, anjl a verdict of suicido whilo of unsound mind was returned.
