WELLINGTON COLLEGE GOVERNORS.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of; the Board of Governors of the Wellington College and Girls' High School was held yesterday, thoro being present: The Chairman (Mr. A. de B. Brandon), Miss. Richmond, Messrs. Robert Lee and A. Warburton. The Chairman raised tho question of the desirability of each college, the Boys' and the Girls', arranging for the;■ respective terms to begin and end contemporaneously. At present the Girls' College; terms begin earlier than those of the Boys' College, and this arrangement,, it was-.stated, gave 1 rise, to a certain amount of inconvenience. It was decided that tho principals. of the colleges be asked to re-arrange their terms accordingly. The statement of finances showed that tho credit balance at the bank amounted to £932 Gs. 3d. Of this amount £663 12s. lOd. was absorbed by payments to the colleges—Wellington College £484 15s. and tho Girls' College £178 17s. lOd. —leaving a-credit of £268 13s. sd. This, 1 plus fees ■ and rents duo—Wellington College £635 Bs. Id., Girls' College £769 Is. 7d., rents £173' 13s. 2d.— brought the credit balance on May 29, 1908, up to £1846 lGs. 3d. .Scholarships.—As the present winners of tho Rhodes' Scholarship (P. W. Burbidge), and the Moore Scholarship (F. L. West), had l£ft tho College,- and relinquished their scholarships, the Principal (Mr. J. P. Firth) recommended that tho awards previously made be revised as follows: — \ • Rhodes. Scholarship; £20, A. H. Robinson: Moore Scholarship, £20, A. P. Castle; T.urnbull Scholarship, £15, A. V. Short; Turnbull Scholarship, £10, A. S. Scott; Levin Language Scholarship, W. S. Simpson ; Lovin Scienco Scholarship, F. M. Corkill. V Interchange of Teachers. —A circular letter from tho Hon. Secretary of the League of tho Empire' (London), re interchange of teachers, was read. This is . a similar communication to that which has been received by tho Education Boards, particulars of which have already appeared in the Press. It was dccidcd that the letter be acknowledged, and that advantago be taken of the provisions of the scheme should any member of the staffs of tho colleges be desirous of proceeding Homo.
