CABINET DECISIONS.
: — A mooting of Cabinet was hold on Saturday, when the following matters wero decided :— • It was resolved that the Shelly Bay road, through tho Defence reserve shall bo opened to the public in future, 'except during gun pvictico. This means that the . road will always bo open ojv Sundays for a public prctmonado. An. agitation for this concession lisf, been carried on at intervals for years. At present portions of-tho road aro in a rough condition. , • A tender was accepted for station buildings at Waikaka. in connection' with tho Gore-Waikaka railway. It was decided to take stops to protect tho scenery along tho Wangamii River, which has boon endangered with tho throwing open of additional lands for settlement. An area of 26,000 acrcs_ of bush, along both banks' of the river, will be preserved.
