Edwards and Son, builders, and the Commercial Union Insurance Company, under tho Contractors' and Workmen's Lion Act for £23 for work dono in connection with tho ojlicos of tho insuranco company. Tho principal items in dispute certain work dono m tho offices, tho disagreement being over the amount which had been polished and tho amount varnished. Defendants objected to paying polishing rates for varnishing work. His Worship gave judgment for £2 3s. 9d. over and abovo tho amount of £11 18s. paid into Court, and costs £4'l7s. Mr.' Dmin appeared for plaintiff, and Mr. Ward for defendant. : AFTER A SCALP. Louis P. Ohristoaoh, hairdresser (Mr. NoilBou) t sued Albert 12.. Mould (Mr.' D, Jackson)

for £'3 for a scalp, a spccies of wig lent to defendant ill July. Plaintiff wrote, asking for the return of .tho scalp soveral times, and eventually, failing to receive it, charged the scalp up at £3 against defendant. At the end of eight months the scalp was returned in a dilapidated condition, and in witness's opinion, qui to unfit for anything. Defendant stated that, he returned the scalp as soon as possible after ho received the first intimation from plaintiff that ho wished it returned. This was about a week after receiving tho demand. Tho scalp was of no uso to liiin, and ho had not returned it before because ho thought it was of no usoto any one. His Worship gavo judgment for plaintiff for tho amount claimed, and costs £1 12s.

CLAIM FOR RENT. Roginald Robinson, electrician, sued Fred Howard, tram conductor, for £1 10s. for three weeks' rent of rooms in Mansfield Street at 10s. per week. Defendant claimed that no had paid rent regularly to plaintiff's wife, hut received no receipts. An adjournjincnt was granted for a week to cnablo defondant to call plaintiff's wife.
