FEATHERSTON.

A meeting of citizens was held on Wednesday ovening, Mr. J. W. Card presiding. It was decided to hold a ball on Juno 12, in aid of the Town Hall improvements. Mr. C. J. Kent-Jolmston was appointed secretary, and Mr. W. Tucker assistant secretary. Messrs J. W. Card, 0. J. Carlyon, J. M'Carty, C. J. Kent-Johnston, E. H. Saunders. M. B. Tait, and H. .W. Waters were appointed an executive committee, and a strong ladies' committco was sot up. Tickets wore fixed at ss. and 2s. 6d. Tho ladies' committee resolved to meet on Wednesday afternoon next. A short-night dance, under tho auspices of tho Fire Brigade, was held on Wednesday. There was a good attendance, and tho floor was in capital order. Music was supplied by Mrs. A. Burt, and Messrs. C. Lust and G. Walkor were M.C.'s. There was no mcetinc of the School , Committee on Wednesday evenina, on account of the other public meeting.
