Court was not re-trying cases.' • Out of several applications for l leave to appeal, one was granted. A conviction Was quashed iti a caso in which the .Judge, at; tho trial, ; expressed dissatisfaction with the verdict. ' The Criminal Appeal- Aot,' 1 1907, was ipassed largely as . the result of the outcry caused by cases' liko' that of Beck and Edalji. The Act established a Court of Criminal Appeal, consisting of tho Lord Chief' Justico and eiirlit judges of the King's Bench Division.. This Court, mar sit in two of more Divisions of not less; than three! judges each. Any person convicted jon indictmont may appeal either on a question of lawj or, by lea've, on- a question of fact, or' against the, sentence, unless it is one fixed by law. With the consent of tliO' Attorney-Genoral, an appeal may be made from this Court to the Houso of Lords.,
