Brown wore .present at a meeting heldyesterday afternoon,. , It was reported'that the City ElectricalEngineer and Tramways Manager (Mr. Stuart Richardson) had been waited upon, and that gentleman had agreed to K proposal to exhibit a dozen calico streamers on locally-built. . cars bearing Ithe following notice: "This car was'-locally inado. New. Zealand 'Industries Week. Buy Dominionmado goods." , It was decided to . have window bills printed and distributed among-thoso making displays of docally-nianufactured -wares, which bills, to-bo placed in a prominent position -in the windows, will contain tlio words; f 'Manufactured in New Zealand." , An interesting feature in connection with local industries week will bo a prizo Vssay competition for boys or- girls under 1G years of age. The essays are not to exceed, 1000 words in length. Tho subject of cacli essay is confined, to olio particular class of manufacture and must riotiencroach on any other, and tho writer must every care that what he writes about must bo strictly a New Zealancl-inadc exhibit; as, for instance,-if a competitor chooses tramcars as'a subject, he should remember that it is only the ' car bodies (and not the under-carriage) that aro mad© in Wellington. The first prize will be £2.25. and the second £1 Is. ;
