PAINTERS' TRADE AT NAPIER. CLAIMS OF THE WORKERS. A dispute has been filed ,between the Na? pier Painters and Decorators' Union of Workers, and 141 employers in towns between Woodville and Napier. It will be considered by the Board of Conciliation/at. Napier on May 29, at; 10.30 a.m. Briefly, the clainis of the workers are as follow:—

All journeymen shall be paid not less than Is. 4Jd.< per hour. The hours of labour shall be, from 8 a.m.'to 4.30 p.m. on five days of the week, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays between May 1 and August 31, and from 8 a.m, to 5 p.m. on fire days of the week, and from 8 a.m.' to "noon, on Saturdays! during the remaining months of . the ■ year. Overtime shall be paid for at the following rates From ordinary. hour of, ceasing work up to S p.m.yund from 6 a.m.: to 8 a.m. (providing that no.work lias beeri, done on any one aay before 6 a.m.), at time and a quarter; between 8 p.m. and midnight, time and a half ; v betwoen mid.niglit and the ordinary, hour ' for -,commencing work, double time; on Saturdays, from the ordinary time of ceasing work till mid-, night, time and a half; on Sundays, Christmas Day, Good Friday, and Labour Day, double time. The wages of apprentices shall be as follow First ' year, 6s. Cd. per week; second, 10s. 6d.; third, 155.; fourth, 205.; fifth, 255. Suburban- work is defined to. mean work perfonned at a distance of ; over two and less thaii Six mile's, and country' work as work done at a distance of six miles or over from his employer's place of business. No employer'shall give piecework, or sub-let any work. : The : proper tion of unionists employed by- any. employer for less than the minimum wage under permit shall not exceed one to overy six fullypaid journeymen.
