j THE PLUMBERS' DISPUTE. (BY TELEGtIArU.—J'ItESS ASSOCIATION.) : ' Auckland, May 14. ! The plumbers' disputo occupied tho attention of the Arbitration Court-to-day. Tho Union ask that the'minimum rate of wages for journeymen bo the same as the "Wellington 'award (Is. 4d. and Is. Sd. an hour), and that tho pay for apprentices bo 65., 10s., 155., 20s:,' 305., and 40s. a week for the first, second;- third, fourth, fifth, and sixth years' respectively. Mr. Banfield, for tho workers, said ho did riot propose to call evidence, but thought the employors should bo called upon to show why tho.v should not come under tho .Wellington award. His Honour: Wellington is supposed to bo a much dooror thairAuckland. 1 We'are prepared to accept the Wellington award in entirety. Mr. Brown:, No doubt. Wellington is . classed as tho dearest award, t' Mr. Banfield: Wo don't admit that. We reckon wo aro a superior class of moil, and that wo aro humiliating ourselves by accepting the Wellington award.
