WELLINGTON AUXILIARY. A mooting , of the, Wellington Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bjjble Society was held in the 'managers' room, St. John's Church, yesterday .afternoon. There were present:—Mr. J. 0. W. Aitken (in tho chair), Revs. W. Shiror and E. Walker, and Mr. Sanson. \ . " The llev. W. Shirer (secretary of the Auxiliary) explained that the. purposo of tho meeting was to determine ,whether it was advisable to abolish tho Auxiliary. Ho had been informed that there had been a gradual lanse of auxiliaries elsewhere. The Rev. E. Walker, who was acting for the Rev. F..H..Spence, New Zealand representative for the British and Foreign Bible Society, suggested that before, coming to any decision to do away with the Auxiliary they might discuss the question of other methods of assisting in the work of the Society. The Chairman reolied that other practicable means had already been tried without success, except in one or two instances, where the church congregations had agreed to carry on their .share of-the work. It was agreed to defer definite settlement of tho question until July 2 nest, when the Auxiliary will meet to discuss matters pertaining to the annual meeting to be held in September. . I
