TO QUEENSLAND.
Messrs.-G. Hillas and I. Nation, two wellknown young farmers,, residing at Mauriceville, intend, to prospect the Darling Downs as" a place for settlement (writes our Wairarapa correspondent), and will probably leave' New Zealand /on, an .inspecting tour in the course of the noxt. three weeks; „ . The Darling ; Downs continue to ; absorb a large amount of interest among. Wairarapa farmers. It would be an exaggeration, however, 1 to state that farmers in this district will generally desert New Zealand for good without /making certain .that, all. round, the conditions are better in Queensland than hero. Every day one hears some farmer say that ho believes that'-Queensland is the place for him, but he immediately afterwards modifies, the statement by the declaration that he will have a look at the nlaco before ho'will- decide, definitely. ■ A great deal will 'depend upon the ,reports . which will/.be brought back to Now, Zealand., by others. There is no .doubt that if, it can bo proved .that Queensland can show better- advantages' than New. Zealand, thero will, be a general oxodus of farmers, not only from WairaTapa, but.from all over the Dominion. l - . -
