CONDITION OF OHARIU ROAD. The Makara County Council, mot on Saturday. Present: Councillors F. H. Hawkins (Chairman), G'.-Monk, F. T. Moore, J.. 11. Haggerty, S. Bryant, and'-T. H. Eastwood. A petition was received from' Mr; F. Kilminster and others, asking that certain lands in the Borough of : Karori be! cut oft" and added to' the County of. Makara. The Council decided t-o support the request.. Councillor, Mooro said the Council should send a strongly-worded protest to .the Minister of' Public Works -as to the disgraceful condition in which the. Department had left' a portion of the Oliariu Road, near the Hawtroy Estate. The Council resolved to do this. Tli'o Clerk said the Department wished to know what the Council thought'should bo ' done to . t-lio road. Councillors ' expressed the opinion that : tho Department should widen, metal, and fence it. It .was: further, resolved to ask tho Minister to remove a slip from tho Hawtrqr Estate on the -Forirua -Road, and'pay tho Council £2 expended in making the road passablo.
