BUTTER-FAT CONTEST AT CARTERTON.

Speaking at Carterton in favour of a champion butter-fat competition at tho next Wairarapa A. and P. Show, Mr. E. Eagle, jiin., expressed the opinion that it would bo better if no herd wore, allowed to be entered unless it was shown that the cows were by a pedigreed bull. It was only in this manner, said Mr. Eagle, that farmers _ could improve their herds with N any certainty. In connection with tho prize-money required for the competition, Mr. Eagle thought that it should' bo something substantial, and that the various dairy companies in the district should be asked to ' co-operate. It was ovontually decided that tho matter should be referred to a committco "comprising tho mover, and Messrs. H.' v lt. Bunny, president of tho Wairarapa A. and P. Association, J. Moncrieff, jun., and J. Brown, who are the secretaries of the Carterton cheese companies. • ■
