MONTHLY MEETING.. . ' , A. monthly meeting of the Masterton A. and P.. Association was hold on Saturday afternoon. Mr. J. D. Cruickshank, President of the Association, occupied the chair, and there wero also present Messrs. W. H. Buick, 0. C. Cooper, R. J. Dagg, R. Gray, E. Harper, R. Johnstone, T. P. Lett, W. M'Konzie, J. Morris, A. J. Percy, J. P.'and W. Perry, A. G. Pilmer,'Blood Rajner, G. Shaw, J. S. Strang, G. C. Sunimcrsll, C. Daniell, J. Heckler,. and J. C. M'Killop. i The report of the Ground. Committee, which recommended that prizes of (1) £20, (2) £10,. and (3) £5 be ofrored for tho-best schemo for the general laying out of tlio now Solway grounds, including roadiug, yarding, and erecting buildings, was adopted after a short discussion. Messrs. I. Sykes and'D. M'Gregor, jun., wrote .enclosing a list of donors to a fund to pay for the erection of all buildings on tho new Solway grounds, and suggesting that a special committee be set up to canvass for further donations. The following resolution, proposed by Mr. Cruickshank, was carried:—"That in liou of voluntary donations; it be a recommendation to tho General Com'mittco to issuo debentures free of interest for the term of ten'years, it to be optional for the Society to redeem the said debentures or pay .interest thereon • at tho end of five years." Mr. John M'Kenzie, representative Mossrs. Quibell Bros., Newark, England, wrote stating that .his firm would otter a.

sterling silver challenge cup to the Association for the most , points in purebred sheep, the trophy to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals before it bccomcß tho absolute property of the winner. The offer was received with thanks. It was reported that tho sum of £343 had been. promised as donations to the funds of the Association in connection with tho opening up of the 'new grounds at Solway as a result of a brief,' active canvass-by Mossm. D. M'Gnegor and I. Sykes. It was dccidetl to proceed with tho work of canvassing, and tho .following were appointed a committee in addition to the present Finance and Ground Committee: —Messrs. J. and D. M'Gregor, I. Sykcs, Q. Donald, J. M'Master, A. G. Pilmer, and j. 0. Bidwill. Tne question of issuing debentures for raising further funds will he discussed, if necessary, when the work of canvassing is completed. < The matter of the disposal of tho present show ground was discussed in committee, and it was evontually dccided to submit an offer of tho grounds, less certain buildings, to tiro Mastcrton Borough Council, tho offer to remain open for two months; in tho •moantime the application received from the ■football authorities ,to bo held over.
