Tho Board appointed to inquire into tho railway. collision at Murrurundi, whero a number of people were injured, found that tho responsibility rested with the night officer, Dwyor, and tho acting-signalman, Gibson, who wero guilty of gross negligeneo. In the Board's opinion, tho homo signal was not placed' at danger after the arrival of tho first division strain, and not until after tho accident. Notwithstanding tho evidence ' of Gibson and tlie shunter to that effect, the Board is satisfied that tho home signal was'in good working order up to tlio time .of the arrival of the first division train. It makes oercain recommendations with a view to improving tho shunting and signalling arrangements at Murrurundi.
