Mexborough , Church, near Doricastijr, was the scene recently, when the firemen had to suspend their work' with tlie hose during the c'oremony, are still somewhat of a nov'elty.,; A : few years, ago, one.recalls;' a similar scene was witnessed in Stl Nicholas's Church, Strood, n(>ar .Rochester. :. A' fire; broke out in the belfry tower; bells'and'roof collapsed, and 'the tower was completely gutted. Just as, tho flames'were at, last being subdued a bridal party, entered the church, and the nuptial knot wag'tied to an ■ accompaniment of swishing hoses and showers of sparks. Ah equally romantic wedding took place not long ago at West-Orchard Congregational Church, Coventry.. The church had been almost destroyed by fire, tho, roof-had fallen in, and the building , lay in' ruins.-; And yet, the wreckage was- still smouldering, an undaunted couple were united .amid the debris of in-one of tho remaining aisles. -
