Mrs. Black, relict of the late William Black, arid one of tho early Taranaki sottiers, died at her residence in New Plymouth at noon yesterday. Mrs. Black come out to Now Zealand with her parents, who settled in Taranaki, and was married in Now Ply--mouth, where all her children were born. Except for a visit to Nelson in the war time, and occasional trips as far as Wanganui, she resided continuously in Now Plymouth. She is survived by'five sons and three daughters, 41 grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. - - Mr. Cummins, ipurser of the lonic, gavo a luncheon party at the Grand Hotel on Thursday in honour of Mr. Luttrell, nephew of His Excellency Lord Plunket.
