Tlio Mclbourno Board of • Health proposes to bring in a regulation relating to tho cleansing of drinking vessels. - In this connection a discussion recently, took place at tlio meeting of the Board regarding tho possibility of diseaso being communicated through tho common uso of tho Sacramental Cup. Dr. Ashburton Thompson, prraidont of tho. Syd-ney-.Board of Health, was asked about'tho matter recently, and said that if a person who was suffering from diphtheria, possibly in a mild form, drank from tho cup, and if, without cleansing, a hoalthy person drank, from tho same spot oil tho rim ot' tlio vessel thou undoubtedly tlio healthy person would run n serious risk of getting diphtheria. Tho possible danger of infection from tho common use of tho Communion Cup has induced many churches to adopt what is known as tho individual cup, wnero tlio. winp is poured into small glasses, oach comtnunioont being provided with a separate glass.
