The weather was showory, with a cold biting wind, and the attendance was consequently smaller than usual. The visitors included the Hon. J. A. Millar and Sir Geo. Clifford. The Manawatu Stakes was won by Aborigine, a two-year-old full brother to King Billy, and bred by his owner, Mr. E. J. Watt. The track was in first-olass ordor, and the gelding covered tlio six furlongs in excellent time. The Conqueror maro Waipaku also put up fast time in tli'o Longburn Handicap, covering tho liino furlongs in lniin. 53 l-oscc., possibly a rccord. There were accidents in both hurdle races, Concussion, Aorangi, and' Prospector falling, while Pantaloon was galloped on, and received injuries which necessitated his destruction, None of tho jockeys was injured. A largo number of bookmakers were licensed for both lawn and paddock. Tho totalisator investments for the day amounted to £8921. Tho results were as follow:— LINTON HA.CK HURDLES, of 100 soys. Aorangi, with a beautiful jump, drew clear at tho second to last hurdle, but the last feiico ho rapped, and unseated his ndor. Commandor was loft in tho lead, but Showman boat him in tho run home. Ikon dropped back rounding tho bottom turn, and at tho homo bend Silver Load was done with. Lethean' camo into-tlio straight, with a good lead, but , insido tlio distance Ikon cnnlo again, and'won easily by a length. Tho Dano just failed to head Lethean. Time, Irain. 3050 c,. Vasa was dono with before ,slialf., way, and Elysium appeared'to gain oil Aborigine,, but the latter, swung into tho straight witn Wo lengths', load from .tho Yaldhurst filly; while ,Husbandman, Sister Anno,, and .Diabolo wpro nest. The latter took ohargo half-way up, and Moscow and San Fernando joined in. A groat racc to the post resulted in a victory for Bourrasque by a narrow margin, with San Fernando closo up third.
