HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY FOR MABTERTON.
Masterton has at last decided to have a Horticultural Society (writes our Wairarapa correspondent). It is somewhat surprising that-the-town has not before inaugurated . such an institution, because r it / possesses many residents who have made a: nobby of flower culturo for many years, 1 and w-hose. v gardens are among ,the best in the Waira- - rapa. There are already horticultural "a^so-;' ciations at Cartort-on, Grey town, and. Fcatherston, and, tho rivalry among the' -,'j, various districts is certain to be of . benefit '.... to tho industry.. It'will-.nb doubt make .it- . self felt in tho'increase of a healthy, and interesting occupation,. the pursuit of which adds much to tho scenic beauty of any town. For quite a number of years the inhabitants of Greytbwn have'mado'a study of horticulture with such zest that the town has earned ': for itself the name of "the Garden of tho ; Wairarapa." ' V '
