BOWLS.
The howling season is on the wane. While the five inches of rain which fell in March has to a great extent restored the greens to something like, spring form, they do not recover from a soaking as they would in early summer—the ground wants tho rain.' and it holtlq on to it. Further, there, is a "nip" in the wind that reminds 0110 sharply that winter is bearing hard down upon tho shortened tail of a brilliant summer. Bowlers have a penchant for warm, still days, and tho year has advanced to that stage when they can he expected but rarely, so there is room and to spare on the greens. Tho wind was rather boisterous on Saturday for the highest enjoyment of tho gentle game, yet many could not find it in their hearts to. give up so early in the year. WELLINGTON CLUB.
