GREATER WELLINGTON

.INCLUSION; OF NORTHLAND. A. deputation of residents ,of Northland waited, unou the Attorney-General (tho Hon. Dr. • Find jay) yesterday; ,in regard to the separation of . that district from thovEarori Borough. The d-Smtation was introduced by -Mr. V/. 11. Field. M.P., and the speakers wero Messrs. ,J.; Aston, J. Bonnie, and F. M'Leod. • The difficulty so far in tho way of tho separation has. ; been the doubt that ono thousand residents would bo left in the Karori Borough, wh'ich is'tho minimum allowed, for a borough under tho Municipal Corporations Act. The deputation showed that moro than the one thousand residents would be left by excluding the. Stanton Estate and an adjoining area from the division, and that thoro would be 110' heartburnings on tho part of those residents. . After questioning the ' deputation fully, the Minister promised to give his .answer later in the day. He, recognised the desire for,'immediato decision in the matter. Subsequently,*the Minister repliod as follows:— " On consideration,. I' have decided to ; adopt the suggestion made by tho promoters of tho petition for annexation— . namely, to exclude from tho area in ■ question tho land lyiiig to the west of the Kaiwarra Stream—and thus make • the said stream tho'.boundary botweon . tho borough and tho city."
