BLACK FASHIONABLE.
Black dresses.will 'receive-an impetus from tho Court mourning : for the ■ Portuguese Royalties, and as-thoy were already pretty high in favour, more especially/for evening wear, and; as.a ; good many women, who won't to small purses'reallychooso, black from motives of economy, /we may' look out for sombre attire-for sonio time to come. ; After all, is it sombre?. With- tho prosent trimmings—embroidered- filet, jot embroidery, spangled lace—your voile, or crepe, or mousseline, shimmers in tho evening glare like any tinted material. It is a case of "black diamonds." Personally, and apart from economic considerations, I am not at all a black devoteo; I rather, lovo to see radiant colours around. But I must admit that- a soft black Princess, well cut, well, hung, well worn, aglow with lightcatching facets, set off by white throat and fair hair, has its charms.
