SUBURBAN BOROUGHS.

, PROBABLE CANDIDATES. Mayoral election matters 'in tho suburbs liavo not developed so rapidly as in Wellington itself. It is just possible that there will bo no^ contest'in any of the four boroujghs adjoining tho city. Tho Onslow Borough Council, at its last meeting, asked tho Mayor'-'(Mr. J. G. Harkness) to stand again, and. ho consented to do so. It is not'thought likely that anyone will como forward to oppose him. The position at Eastbourne is likely to-bo similar, but has not- doveloped to the samo stago. Mr. F. G. Bolton, the. present-Mayor, was elected when tho borough, was constituted, about a year and a half ago. So far Mr. Bolton has not' definitely stated his intentions, but there is no other candidate in tho field. . ' ' . At Miramar one of two things is 'pretty certain to happen—the■'■; unopposed • re-'elec-tion of Mr. ,C.- J.-Crawford,'or a, duel, between the present Mayor and Mr. F.'To'wnsond. It is not expected so far that anyorio else wil] come-forward, y At Karori Mr.. A., C. Pearco has apparently. decided not . to seek re-election, and 'no candidate has yet definitely entered tho field. Ono member, of the - present Council has been approached by some of his fellowCouncillors andy a number of residents and asked to stand, but he declines to stato his intentions until he has had more time for deliberation.
