MR. HISLOP AT BROOKLYN.
: . A meeting of Mr. Hislop's supporters was held at Brooklyn last evening. Tiiero wasan attendance of over forty. Mr. G. Frost-was voted.to tho chair. Mr. Look was appointed secretary,'; 'and Mr v : Shell assistant. After discussing and-'arranging a glan,.-Mrl"Hislop delivered; a'short*address. Tne 'Hon. Mr/ M'Ardlo and Mr. John Dincen spoko in complimentary terms or tiwcandidate, and specially laid stress on the good work dono by tho.Mayor and-Mayoress. - ' Mr, Hislop, iu his address, skotchud tne ,plan which 'the. Council had laid down for acquiring'the gasworks. . The first step ivas .negotiation, and the second was applying to tho Legislature for additional powers. Ho stated that it would depend upon t-ho' Company jvhether its extinction would, be comfortable'and dignified or otherwise. •
