REFEREES' ASSOCIATION.
The secretary'sreport for the year ending March '16 states', that the' Wellington Rc-forec-s' Association may.■' be. again ' congratulated upon /.the characteristic good conduct of its: members in'all' matches in whiclr they have officiated during.the-season.'. ! Twenty-two weekly meetings were held during tlie • year, the average attendance" •being 21, which shows'.the great interest of the members in all that concerns the. livelfare of (ho organisation. Notwithstanding the large number /(376) of. appointments 1 .made i for. Rugby ;IJnion' /matches; very few coiitests lapsed through: the absenco of' tlte referee.' Members; of this Association ; officiatedat various inter-union' matches and : fnt6r : olub ;contests at Wairarapa' and Horowheniia districts. It was acknowledged that they carried ■out their duties to t,ho .satisfaction of everyorio_ concerned. .'The • junior, memhers are again to be commended for' the' enthusiastic 'manner in• which i they fulfilled' their various 'appointments during.tlie season.' An'increasc (15) is'to be'recorded in-tlio, number of members "elected 'during' the. year, tho active membership roll now totalling 85. . In' View of the additional" grounds secured by tho' Rugby Union, and tho large, number of matches .to "be played , during , the coming season, ■ this increase; of' .membership will be found to bo of much' service. Tlie recentlyformed branch of. the Association at. Petone had thoroughly carried ou(; the ■ objects" f or •:which it was established, 'rfnd. has'provtv* a . useful, adjunct to the parent body."■; During the past season ■ tho Annual Conference nf ißeferees' under the Auspices of'.the ,-N.Z.'
