INDUSTRIAL AGREEMENT.

Tho National 'Mortgago and Agency Co. of Now- Zoalaiulj Ltd.,' and tho Wellington Slaughtermen's Industrial- Union of Workers have entered into an industrial agreement, which -shall take cffcct from February .7,' 1903,:' and remain -in -force- uutil Juno 9, 1909, and'thereafter, until a new agreement is mad-s,. or-an award shall -have been inade under the -provisions; of tho Industrial. Conciliation and Arbitration Act..

The agreement provides, inter-alia, that the rates of' pay for, slaughtering" shall. bo as follow:—Sheep, or.-kmbs, ,235. per 100; rams, od. .each; -lambs' requiring backsets,- od. each ; sheep and-lambs . that'aro dead when brought/to the works, Is.- each; cattle, 2s. each; pigs and calves,. Is.- each. Work shall commence at 8 a.m. each day, except • oaf, Saturdays;, when .work; shall, commonco at 7 a.m.. - None but competent, men shall bo employed, Slaughtermen's- work includes killing, taking- off skins, taking', out insides; wiping, putting, strings on sheep, and hanging off« All work done on the holidays,agreed .upon--shall bo- paid for. at the rate of■ timo and a half. .1 . . ..

Other, clauses in the agreement stato that the . employer, shall- provido a dressing-room and dining-rooms, if required so to do by the slaughtermen employed, and. that preference shall ;,bo-given tp members of the .Union 30 long as the present, rules as to admission of members remain.
