MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of- the Wellington Education Board was held yesterday, there being, present Messrs.' W. Aitken, M.P. (in the chair), J. Kobbell, A. H. Vile, a. W. Hogg, M.P., W. C. Buchanan, arid W. 11. Field, M.P. STATEMENT OF FINANCES. Tho. statement of- finances was a-s' follows: In credit—Secondary account,' £150 25.,4 d..; technical account, '£75 12s. • 9d.; teachers' salaries' account,. £1225 ss. !6d.; deposit account, £2 19s. 6d.; total in'. credit, £1454 os. Id. In debit—Buildings account, £1817 ? s> . (2) That tho Clerk of Works be instructed to Teport as to :-(a) Island Bay-Probable cost and advisability of carrying out, in whole or in part, work proposed by Committee, towards which £45. is Offered; and (b) Eketaof the school building, and the practicability. and cost of removal to new site. - . . (3) Pahiatua—That tenders be invited for the oreetioii of a building of four rooms on tho new site.. (4) Hutt—That the lease of residence site be. extended from .7 to 10 years. ' Tho recommendations were adopted. Karori School—Tho Committee which visited the school recommends that a grant uf ~00 bo made towards levelling l and grading tho playground in accordance with the plan submitted, provided the Committee undertakes to complete tho work to the satisfaction of the. Board, building repairs to stand oyer, for the present. Tho recommendation was.adopted.';

■ GENERAL. Nireaha— Correspondence froiri the Nireaha School _ Committee, with referencb to' the reopening of the school and losses by 'fire,-. wa3 read. , It was' decided to refer tho matter to tho . Board's ■ inspectors, to be inquired into during tho inspection of the school in March.

Dyer Settlement School. —A'request from residents of tho Dyer Settlement, that the sito of tho. proposed school building bo changcd, gave, rise, to soriio discussion, and it was resolved that a sub-com-mittoo consisting of - Messrs. A. W. Hop-c M.P., A. H. Vile,' and W..-C. Petono Technical School, 13ilo. - , 1 , Tho following recommendations of tho committeo of. advico of' tho 'Tcachcrs''• Training College wero adopted That confidential reports regarding out-going'students be furnished by tho Principal to tho Boards of tho districts' from which they 'respectively come. That application bo mado for grant to'provide a laboratory for physiology and naturo study. As the woodwork room has been found tco small, it is suggested'that tho laboratory miglit be fitted up there, a larger rooni being provided for woodwork. . That plans and prices bo obtained for suitable iron'gates and that, application bo mado to tho Department for tho amouiit rcouircd for their ercction., [
