In tho course of ...his 'report,-tho'.clerk, states that the roVqnue from Juno 1 ,to December 31 1907,' was £6257 7s. 2d., or at the rate of .£10,720.,185. for-,the.year.. Tho expenditure for the sama period was £9407 75., plus £490 1907, was £6257 7s. 2d., or .at the rate of £10,018. ISs. per annum. This shows virtually a 'loss of £6000 per. annum, but. as tho November and, December revenuo show ,i better average than previous months, it may be safo to assume that the Council i:j £5000 per annum to 'the bail, and this without any charge of depreciation or sinking fund, formation of which should be provided for'. The .Town Clerk recommends that tho wholo position of the city's electricity undertakings should be carefully reviewed from all points. The- report will bp. considered at a special meeting of the Council in conjunction' with a.report on corporation trading business bythe Chairman of tlio Finance Committee.
