LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.

TBAMCARB. r " Sir, —Referring to " Tram-goer's " letter r> this morning's Dominion - , I may, as a cor, stant tram-rider of over twenty-five years say that not only the palace cars, whoro i', is, perhaps, most noticeablo, but also till doublo-deckerc and combination cars recentlj introduced here, are inconvenient and danger, ous, for two reasons. The steps aro too high, particularly the second step, and the doorways aro too narrow. The actual height from ground to floor.of .all these 'cars may be, as "Tram-goer" asserts; the same, but they are all far higher than the old type that wo have become accustomed to, while th« narrowness of..tho doors accentuates the inconvenience'of high second - steps.'.

. Those, .as. I submit, unnecessary inconveniehccsj malto it particularly awkward foi ladies and children — who, being tho most numerous patrons, have. a right to bo considered—or men who, from accident or other disability, havo, lost their .wonted' activity. •None of. these., travellers can' get in or out of the new cars with tho ease .'or safety with which they 'used to when using tho former types. Speaking as a. layman, I can see{no reason why 'tho car floor should stand so high abovo tho'street, or why tho door should not , bo an inch or two wider. No carrying space .would be lost, while - convenience ..and safety would bo promoted.- I venture to think that. ( it- is only tho extra watchfulness", and patience ■ of our obliging guards' and mo.tormen thatwe have to thanii for our immunity from frequent accidents by reason of tho;cars starting-; - beforo the traveller has completely.entered or alighted;— L ain, eto.j ' . F. H. : - ( Foliruary 24.i.- . ■ x-'- !
