Dr. Frcngley (Wellington District Health Officer) returned last night from a tour of inspection of tho Rangitikei and Wanganui 'districts. ■ Mr. G. H. Blalcemore, general manager of the Great Cobar, Ltd., one of tho most important mines in New South Wales, is on. a health visit to Now Zealand. •The Rev. C; W. Maclaverty, curate of St. Peter's Church, will ,leave on Saturday on a visit to England. It is intended to make a farewell presentation to Mr. Maclaverty this ovoning. The exodus of Anglican bishops en route to the Lambeth Conference continues. Last week Dr. S.iumareß Smith, Primate of Australia, and tho Bishop of Carpentaria both left .Australia for London. Alexander, who was invited some months ago by tho Council of tho Evangelisation Society to visit Melbourne, and bring with him the Rev. Bell, Director of the Geological Survey, left yesterday for Gisborne, via' Ohakune, to inspect petroleum deposits in tho Gisborne district. He is accompanied by Mr. J. H. Woodward, who.'recently retired from the position of-medical officer of ; the' New S6uth Wales Railways,' a post which ho has held, for tho past twenty years, was a recent arrival in New Zealand, accompanied by his daughter, Miss T., E. .Woodward, matron of Berrima District Hospital. Dr. Woodward's health has, causod grave; anxiety to his family and friends, ; and it is, hoped that tho climate of . Christchurch,, where ho intends to reside for the 'future,', may ro- . store him to hoalth and vigour.
Mr. Reginald Day; who has been' for the last'seven years secretary of the, Southland Hospital and Charitable Aid, Board,; has been appointed to! a responsible position in the service of the Australian Widows' Fund Lifo Assurance Society (Limited). He leaves Inv-ercargill to take'up his new;work; in Dunedin as soon as he can be relieved of Iris duties with the Charitable Aid Board. Mr.. Day has been, a very active worker in many semi-public institutions. He lias been' lay reader in tho Church of/England, member of the Waihopai School Committee, ' tho Farmers': Club, the Horticultural .Society, arid .the Troopers' Memorial Executive. '
