THE TURF.

(By Glekcoe.) : SALE OF THOROUGHBRED STOCK. A sale of racehorsos is to take place at noon to-day at Mr. Andrew's stables, : Thorndon Quay, when several well-bred lots will J be submitted to auction. . Messrs. William H. Turnbull and Co., who are to conduct the sale, will be pleased to giro full particulars ■ to intending buyers. Among the-dots to bo . offered may be "mentioned Alfalfa, a three-year-old brown filly by Grafton — Korowai. Grafton, as is well known, is the most successful sire in Australia, and almost all of his stock that have so far raced in Now Zealand havo been winners. Particular mention may be made of_ Heriot, Horoism. Exmoor, Truce, and Jacket. Heriot is, I think, tho oniy Grafton mare that' has been at the stud in New Zealand, and she is famous as the dam of Multilid (U.N. Derby and Canterbury Cup). Alfalfa's dam, Korowai, raced successfully in tho Auckland district and in Australia, and is a full sister to that good performer Motor. Alfalfa is in full training, and her breeding combines tho Galopin— Musket cross, so much sought after. A. L., a three-year-old black filly by Lancaster— Mamaku, is also ready for racing. Lancaster, who stands at tho Nandillyan Heights Stud (N.S.AV.) at' a fee of twentyfive guineas, is by Hotchkiss, and a member of'the great Frailty family, to which Trenton, Cuirassier, Zalinski, Havoc, and Mosquctaire belong. Ho was a great racehorse in his time, and has sired many winners. ' The bay horse Cyrus, who has been'at the stud for two seasons, is also to bo sold. He is by the St.. Simon'horse Cyrenian from a Goldsborough mare. Other lots aro" the chestnut gelding Clanburn, by that successful siro Clanranald, and a bay gelding Wainui-o-mata, whose correct breeding and history will:bo given at tho sale. It will bo seen, therefore, that buyers will have a good variety of thoroughbreds to choose from, and tho sale should draw a large attendance.' ■
