COMING EVENTS. To-day—Christchurch' Regatta. : Feb. 25. —Webb-Trosiddcr Match. Jb'eb.- 29.—Wellington Regatta.' March 12—Wanganui, Regatta. March. 24.— N.Z. Championships (Napier),
Both parties in the Webb-Tresidder match have.paid.the .iiual.deposits of £200 each to the stakeholder, Mr. Webb Jones,-editor of tho, "Wanganui Herald," which fell -due ~ today.'
With regard to the transport • arrangements for intending visitors to Wanganui, I understand that the Railway .Department is busy making arrangements for special trains, and that it is hoped the time-table will bo ready for publication shortly. The Department predict that there will be a great influx of visitors to Wanganui, and aro making arrangements to cope with tho heavy traffic. It.,is sincerely, to bo hoped the Manawatu Railway Company will fall into lino and run specials through in order to give tho Wellington people an opportunity of getting through on tho day in time to .see tho. race and return homo that night. It'is-said that a big crowd of Wcllingtonians intend journeying up. if train arrangements suit, and if so they should bring pressure to bear on the Manawatu Company, who would, no doubt, bo willing to arrange for special excursions if sufficient inducement offered.
Tho only Wellington representatives competing at the' Christchurch regatta at Little River to-day aro the. Wellington. Rowing Club'senior double scnllers, Gandin and M'Kinlay, who left for tho scene of the fray ou Thursday. I-am .sure all local rowing 'jiion will join me in wishing them the best of luck.
