COMMISSIONER M'KIE TRANSFERRED.
VISIT TO WELLINGTON. Commissioner M'Kio, head of the Salvation Army in Australasia, has received notico of transfer. He will hold farewell meetings in Australia in ' April, after his New Zealnnd tour. It is not yet known where the Commissioner and his wife are to be stationed next, or who nro to replace them at the Australasian headquarters. Commissioner M'Kio, accompanied by Mrs. M'Kie, will arrive in Wellington on Thursday, February 27, for Ihe purpose of holding an important conference with officers, and directing the'initiation of new departments of tho Army's social work in New Zealand. On Sunday, March 1, the Commissioner and Mrs. M'Kie will conduct evangelistic services in the Opera House, and on the following evening the Commissioner will preside at a memorial service to departed officers, to bo held in the Town Hall. The visitors will afterwards make a lour of the Dominion. Tho transfer to another country of Commissioner and Mrs. M'Kie will be much regretted in New Zealand ami Australia, where they have made themselves very popular. They were transferred to Australasia from Germany, whero they laboured for four years, prior to which the Commissioner was General Booth's travelling representative. He has seen 24 or i r > years' active service, and has travelled every portion of the globe on which the Army hus a fooling "Gladly would we have remained with you, or at least prolonged our stay," says the Commissioner in a message to the soldiers and friends of the Army. "Our association with this command, its officers, its soldiers, its countless outside supporters and friends, saved and unsaved, rich and poor, have bound our hearts with ten thousand tender ties, which neither time nor space, life nor death, will sever, anil we shall ever be yours to serve, and shall gladly embrace every opportunity that God may privilege us with for so doing.
