Another evidence of the dangerous practice of allowing horses to stray on the roads was given last night, when Mrs. G. P. Donnelly met with a serious accident. As she was returning- from Crissoge to Otatara in-a motor-car the car ran into n horse which bad been left to graze on tho roadside, and the impact threw Mrs. Donnelly with consider-, able force on the roadside, resulting in her left arm being broken. The accfdent: happened about half a mile from Crissoge'. Drs. Barcroft and Tosswill have been in attendance on Mrs. Donnelly, and she is noiV progressing favourably, and is • not suffering apart from the injury received to her arm. DROWNED. AT WAIKATO BAR. Ail inquest held at Waiuku on Tuesday on. tho bodv of Alfred Nealie, who was drowned ,it \Vaikato heads, showed that the launch, in which the party bad gone outside the heads intending to fish, was, owing to an accident to the rudder, not thoroughly under control, but the passage across tho bar'ivaa considered safo by the occupants. Nealie. however, when approaching the bar, jumped, up in fright, and, with au oar with which lie had been assisting ,in steering, threw himself overboard and was drowned. _ The jury's verdict was in accordance with this evidence.
