PETONE NEWS.
Tho Tetono Brass Band gave another of the series of open-air concerts'oil tho Recreation Ground last night. Several sailors from tho warships wcro present. St. David's Sunday School, Potone, held their picnic yesterday at Upper Hutt. Everything went well, and a very pleasant day was-, spout. A couimitteo to arrange for Hospital Sunday (February 9) met in tho Mayor's room last night. His Worship tho Mayor presided, and thoro wcro also present Mrs. Ashe, Messrs. Avison, ltalph, Woodhouse, Cairns, Greening, and Jones (secretary). Mr. Greening moved that tho local bands bo asked to play a mimber of pieces in Jackson Street 011 Saturday evening to assist the collectors. This was carricd. The secretary was instructed to writ.o to a number of young-Indies to assist with tho boxes. Letters wero received from tho Garrison and Battalion Bands offering their services. It was decided to thank them for their kind offer. It was also resolved that two young- ladies with collecting boxes bo sent to tho Railway Workshop gates on Friday evening (February 7); and that tho local bands'be asked to start from .different parts to play to tho Recreation Ground. Mr. Lopper, captain of iho Fire Brigade, is to bo asked to act as marshal.
