Isaac Salek, the C.S., referred to,the fact that several of the quired careful consideration, and i he trusted .the book examiner would'look carefully-into the. subject. After considerable) discussion the district and' lodge balancc-sheets were adopted, on 'tlio motion of Bro., . Sharman', - seconded by Bro. Horno. t. / . ACTUARY'S REPORT., ■ A bulky report' from the Actuary of Friendly Societies, bearing upcu the valuation of tho lodges in the Wa'ngaiiui .district, was then brought before the-moating.. Extracts from.tho report/wore read by the G.S. The Actuary suggested , that the . lodges should pay levies to tho district-funeral fund upon their membership ast'at_ December 31, 11)05, upon a percentage of ago basis, arid not upon the equal levy system as at present in force. Tho W'angamri lodge had benefited by about £300 by the system in vogue, to tlie' detriment of tho other lodges. Tho Jovy system required tho immediate attention of tho district. Upon tho basis of the membership as at the time, of vulyatioii,. tho Wanganui Lodgo should pay at tho rat-o-of 35 per cent, of tho contribution, Palmerston and Foilding lodges 22. per cent-., and,the other lodges 17 tq 20 per .cent-.. : Tho report went on to say that the Wanganui lodgo showed\a surplus of £1979, and remainder of the lodges showed' deficiencies <as , under—Palmorston, £1923, Foilding £1356, Apiti £281; Ohingaiti'£l7s, Mangawoka £83", Taihapo £927, Mataroa £213, Bunnythorpo £2SO,' Huhtervillo £149. Tho 'rate of interest earned for the period was as follows:—Wangnnui 5.54 per e.ent., Palmerstbu 4.88, Peilding 3.17, Apiti. 5.62; Ohingaiti 4.19, Mangaw.oka 2.92, Taihapo 2.03. It 'was decided to deal with tho report at tho next meeting. SECRETARY'S, SERVICES RETAINED. G.S. Bro. Salok herd tendered his resignation on account of his intended-removal from the district. Ho .said ho had held the offico for a period of fourteen years, and during tho whole of that period he had striven . « tho besib interests of .the , district. Ho intended to take up his rosi(le>ic& in Welling-: ton,, but would bo prepared to carry out tlio' work from ;thero. His 1 business would necessitate bis presence in Wangnnui at various intervals. Bro. Watson moved that tlie resignation of CiS. Bro. Salek bo not accepted, and that he be allowed to hold the office in Welling: ton for a period of twelve months. The speaker paid a .high tribute to the valuable services'of,tho ( G.S. v " , Tho motion was seconded by Bro. Sharman, and was carried. * Bro. Sharman moved"That Bros. Watson and Silok. represent tho Wanganui district, nt the M.C. meeting at New Plymouth at Easter:" This was seconded by Bro! Nix, and was carried. . A telegram was received from C.S. Brrt. Kershaw wishing - the, district a profitable meeting.- . .■ Bro. 'Hodges 1 was then installed; into • thb Prov. G.M.'s.chair, and Bro: Sharman into tho D.G.M.'s chair by Bro.
