IS IT TOO; LATE TO CHANGE THE DOCK SITE?
IMPORTANT RESOLUTIONS. ' For some years past' the Wellington Harbour Board has been the most' placid7of local bodies in pursuing the even tonor or its steadily progressive v.'ay, but with recent developments—the dock, tho Patent Slip, the proposition to reclaim' a portion of Evans Bay as an extension of the commercial water front, and latterly tho retirement of Mr. Wm. Ferguson from the position of secretary and engineer—the position haschanged entirely. Thai there arc still'a few matters to bo considered is proved by the following notices of motion to bo moved by Mr. Robert Fletcher at tho meeting to bo held on Thursday next. Tho resolutions are as follow: — CHANGE OF DOCK'SITE. "That in view of the altered, position due to the adoption of the Evans Bay reclamation scheme, and to the intended purchase of the Patent Slip property, the Board hereby resolves to rescind the resolution authorising the construction of the dock at Clyde Quay, and to , . have the necessary steps taken .forthwith to secure n more advantageous sito in close proximity to the ■ Patent Slip in Evans; Bay." OFFICIALS AT MEETINGS. ."That tho Secretary, Engineer, Wharfinger,' Harbour Master, and Treasurer bo in attendance at all meetings of the Wharve3 aiid Accounts Committee, and at {ill ordinary meetings of tho \Board." ! EMPLOYEES' APPEAL COMMITTEE. "That all Appeal Committee bo formed, consisting of tho 'Secretary (who shall act as Chairman and Convenor), Harbour Master, Wharfinger, Engineer, and one delegate elected by tho permanent employees of tho Board, such delegate to be elected every second year. "Tho Appeal Committee shall investigate and deal with any complaint laid before it by Or on bohalf • of any of . tho employees; No employee shall bo dismissed until his caso lias beon considered by tho Appeal Committee. "In tho absence of any one of tho four officers his place on tho Committee is to be taken by the officer acting for him. "A deputy delegate is to bo olectcd biennially to take tho placo of the ./lelogato during any inability to attend a mooting. "All meetings of tho Appeal Committee are to lie considoral by its members as strictly confidential, and all communications from tho Committee, either to the Board or to the emplovces, are to be made through the Secretary."
