He was warmly welcomed by his 'fellow-countrymen'.'and-'other Scandinavians. At.' Dannevirke he was. officially received by the Mayor (Pastor Kiis); who is a-Da:i«,'and by.'leading 'Scandinavian, residents. 'On tlie following day. the, Scandinavians came together..in the Danish.-.Church, and after the service Couut Morner addressed them, expressing his pleasure in seeing and knowing, that the}-, as. good New Zealand subjects, did credit to the, countries whence they came. " He" convoyed to his' fellow-Swedes the greetings of the-late'King Oscar, which'were the Mast His Majesty spoke to' him. On the following day • Count. Morner went on to Norsewood. The Scandinavian settlers of that district met him in the .evening, in tho Gzhoolroom, and he lectured'to them in Swedish on the developments, apart :from politics, that had taken place in Sweden during tho thirty years: that have elapsed sincc most of them jamo out; Count Moriier was very pleased to meet such good types of his people. He entered about thirty of their homes, and found the people thrifty, industrious, and religious. To-day Count Morner leaves for Auckland. 0e intends to stay there only two\days,. and will then go on to 'Rotorua, .where he proposes to remain about a fortnight.
