MUSICIANS CONCERT.
..Musicians from all parts of the Dominion are gathered together in Wellington just now for .an. important- conference, and the concert which was held in the Municipal Concert Hall last evening was a happy, albeit daring, inspiration for. their common- pleasure.- Messrs. Alfred Hill, J. Mauglian .Burnett, and Horace Hunt were the: New Zealand, composers'- whose works helped'to form .the programme. , Mr. Hill' played the first .movement of one of his own violin sonatas in a way which, made one wish he might-be heard more frequently with this instrument. A song by Mr. Mill. • -illy. Fairest Child," was sung- by Mr. John i'rousc, who was'in excellent voice, in. a mariner thai; must have more• than satisfied the composer. A trio of Mr. Maughaii Harnett's was enjoy, jbly rendered as follows:—Piano, Mr. Maughan llarnctt;-violin, ITerr Max -Hoppe; 'cello, Mr. A. Jl. Hanierton. Herr Max llnppc also played verv artistically.a-charming romniice for the violin, by Mr Maughan Burnett. A pleasing andante for the violin, composed by Mr. Horace Hunt, was well-played by Herr-Max Hoppe, and Miss; Minn Ca.ldow sang, with splendid effect, a song by tiie same composer, called "'Compensation!" In her rendering of Hatton's Song, ."The .Enchantress;" Miss Caldow'was also highly successful. Madame E. Carlton's voice, was iliot. well suited for Grieg's " Onward Bound," and her upper register was'somewhat husky, and- lacked tone. Mrs. Glover-Eaton sang "L'Ete," by Charminade, in a very pleasing manner. ,' >
