UNIVERSAL TRUTH.

The Ecv. J, B. Morton Barnes, 8.A., informs us that, he opened his c-hurcli last Snudny evening at his house on th 4 Normandalo Estate, Lower Hutl. In the course of his

sermon on 'The Church ot tho Lniveisal Truth," Mr. Barnes stated that ho recognised tho truth of tho Unitarian theological position, but lie believed that Trinitarians had got also certain elements of truth in their idea of a three-fold Deity, so that he would invito thorn to worship together with Unitarians in the Spirit of Truth, sinkiug their theological differences in tho ideal harmony of a. free catholic faith. He believed hiniselt ( that Jesus was only a Man, a good Teacher, a Son of God, among "other Saviours of tho world, but .ho also believed in His divinity, just as lie believed in thu potential divinity of every human being. Mr. Barnes discussed at some length tho doctrine of tho Trinity, which, he said, contained a sublime truth—"a grand prophecy of tho coming divinity of man. how he may enter into the godhead and partake of the l)ivine Nature oven as did Jesus, thu Prophet of Nazareth. Hence it might bo possible, for a man to rise from tho dead, or prolong his life indefinitely on earth, or ascend into the heavens or spiritual world." "I sec the truth of (he Trinity," lie also slated, "when I come to realise the divine attributes liavo wisdom anil power, which faithism so ablv expounds ill the new liibln 'Oahspo.' Just where thu ancient creeds have erred is in making three separate Persons or Beings of these three main attributes." Concluding, Mr. Barnes mid that trom the. nature of his views he must stand alone anil help' to move the limes forward toward the spiritual philosophy, and the .social and economic brotherhood of man. " Some will help me and some will refuse, but I host" who think for themselves have the courage to uphold and respect, an honest man."
