WANGANUI CHRISTIAN CONVENTION.
$ REV. CHARLES INWOOD TO ATTEND. A convention is to bo held in St. Paul's Ball, Wanganui, .t'roni .January 27 to February 1, for the. purpose of deepening the spiritual life of Christians. A programme of, subjects, including "Cleansing," "Filled with the "Spirit," and "Soul Winning," has been arranged, and the Rev. Charles linvood, who is expected to arrivo in Wellington to-day from Sydney, will give addresses. Mr. Inwood lins been identified for some years with the annual spiritual conventions held at Keswick, Kngland. " Evangelical Christendom," tho organ of the Evangelical Alliance, with headquarters in London, contained tho following/el'erence to the projected conference in its Novembor-. Dear Sir,—lt may interest your readers to learn that an effort is being made to inaugurate, annual conventions for . tho | deepening of tho spiritual lite in the North Island of New Zealand. A council has been formed, consisting of the Rov. A. M. liyburn (Presbyterian), president; the Revs. 1). M'Nicol (Methodist), l'VH..Spencer (Church of England), and Messrs. J'as. liruce (Presbyterian), and G. Carson (Baptist), vice-presi-dents; and the Revs. 13. Hutson (Presbyterian), .12. Drake' (Primitive Methodist), Canon Ecclcs (Church of England), R. Wilson, if. 11. Taylor, -B. Dixon, and J. W. Baker (hon. secretary) members of council. The basis is to bo that of tho -Evangelical Alliance, and the first convention to be held in Wanganui in January from tho 20th to the. SGfcli. Much sympathy in the effort lias been expressed, and prayer is being made that the true underlying oneness of Christ's people may receive-a great deepening downwards so that abundant fruit upwards may bo manifested by all, that the world may realise that true Christians do really Jove one another.— Yours very sincerely, Fred.
